On November 6, 2025, the construction of Ningxia power grid made a crucial progress - the Xingtang 750 kV transmission line project officially started construction. This major project spans Litong District and Lingwu City in Wuzhong City. It consists of three parts: the Lingzhou to Yinchuan East I and II circuit conversion to Xingtang 750 kV transmission line project, the Miaoling to Lingzhou I and II circuit and Yinchuan East to Lingzhou I and II circuit conversion to Xingtang 750 kV transmission line project, and the Xiling to Lingzhou third circuit 750 kV transmission line project. Together, they build the backbone network of the regional power grid.

The project plans to build 128 new towers, including 45 double circuit towers and 83 single circuit towers, with a total length of 55.706 kilometers for the new transmission line. According to the plan, the project will be completed on December 30, 2026. The construction of this project will significantly enhance the reliability of the DC transmission channel, provide strong support for the development of the 330 kV power grid in the northern part of Wuzhong, and significantly improve the load carrying capacity and the integration and consumption level of new energy and energy storage projects in the Wuzhong area. It is worth mentioning that the project will also meet the access needs of the Niushoushan Pumped Storage Power Station, which is about to be put into operation in Ningxia's "15th Five Year Plan", and has strategic significance for ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid.
The engineering construction faces severe technical challenges, with a total of 164 lines of 35 kV and above to be crossed along the entire line, including 2 crossings of ± 800 kV Lingshao DC grounding electrode, 1 crossing of ± 800 kV Lingshao DC line, 2 crossings of Yinxi high-speed railway, 2 crossings of Yinkun expressway, and 6 crossings of national and provincial highways. These complex crossing conditions pose extremely high requirements for engineering construction, requiring the strictest safety measures and the latest construction technologies to ensure the smooth progress of the project.
