Under the dual strategic background of serving rural revitalization and building a strong ecological barrier in northern Xinjiang, the construction of rural and pastoral roads in Inner Mongolia has been given multiple missions beyond transportation itself. This is not only a capillary connecting thousands of households, but also a key cornerstone for promoting regional coordinated development, controlling desertification, and carrying the dream of a moderately prosperous society for farmers and herdsmen.

As of the end of November 2025, a set of impressive data provides a footnote to this year's struggle: the construction of rural roads in the entire region has started with a mileage of 6603 kilometers, exceeding the annual target by 32.1%; Fixed assets investment reached 7.543 billion yuan, also exceeding the plan. These road extensions are synchronously drawing a new development landscape of smooth external and internal connections, industrial integration, road lock and sand invasion, and green advance and sand retreat interweaving.

Strengthening the safety lifeline of pastoral areas

Building roads and bridges is far from easy in the vast Inner Mongolia. The vast land, sparse population, complex geology, and harsh climate all pose severe challenges. However, the performance report for 2025 is particularly impressive: 190 dangerous bridge renovations have started, far exceeding the annual plan of 155; 277 life protection projects have started construction; The overall completion rate of maintenance projects reached 131%. Behind these numbers are a series of tough battles.

Taking Alxa Right Banner as an example, an old bridge on County Road 776 was identified as the highest level of Class 5 dangerous bridge due to geological disasters, becoming a safety hazard hanging in the hearts of the masses. The local transportation department decisively implemented demolition and reconstruction, resulting in a qualitative leap in the load level and disaster resistance capacity of the new bridge. Similar stories are unfolding in multiple locations throughout the region. The renovation of every dangerous bridge and the installation of every section of protective fence are not just the completion of the project, but also the installation of safety belts for farmers and herdsmen to travel, eliminating the "worries" for the development of pastoral areas. As a grassroots transportation official once said, "Our road must first ensure that the people can walk with peace of mind

Weaving Industry Integration and Prosperity Network

The significance of road construction goes beyond mere passage. Inner Mongolia is well aware of the principle of road connectivity and the prosperity of all industries, and is striving to build a modern rural and pastoral transportation network with smooth external and internal connections and industrial integration. In the first 11 months of 2025, 7.543 billion yuan of fixed assets investment will be injected into this land like blood, activating the pulse of development.

The newly connected highways have become the two main arteries that connect resources and markets. For example, the full line connection from C051 Desert Geopark in Alxa Right Banner to Badain Lake Highway not only connects the scenic area, but also closely links the unique desert tourism resources with the external market, paving the way for the development of the local cultural and tourism industry. At the extension of the highway, characteristic agricultural and livestock products can leave the grassland faster, the e-commerce logistics network can extend downwards, and the flow of factors between urban and rural areas is more efficient. The improvement of transportation network is transforming the resource endowment of Inner Mongolia's vast land into tangible economic advantages and people's well-being. Keywords: infrastructure, infrastructure construction

From the banks of the Erguna River to the Alxa Desert, the four good rural roads continue to extend under the blueprint of over completion. They have surpassed simple mileage accumulation and become a safe and reliable path for people's livelihoods, a prosperous path for industries, and a connecting path between the Party and the people. This road network is supporting the dream of a moderately prosperous society for farmers and herdsmen in Inner Mongolia, injecting a continuous stream of strong momentum into the high-quality development of northern Xinjiang.Editor/Cheng Liting
