On December 25, 2025, the Governor of Lagos State, Sambo Oulu, announced that the second phase of the Lagos Light Rail Blue Line project is progressing smoothly and is expected to be fully completed within the next 18 months. The light rail blue line project is constructed by China Civil Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and provided by CRRC Dalian Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. It is a fully electrified urban light rail transit project designed, built, constructed, and operated independently by Chinese enterprises. The project has a total length of 27 kilometers and 11 stations. The first phase of the project (13 kilometers long) was officially opened for operation in September 2023, and the second phase of the project is about 14 kilometers long.
