When the Southeast Asian infrastructure boom meets China's "smart manufacturing" strength, a benchmark project for cross-border cooperation officially begins. Recently, a consortium led by Pacific Construction Group and with the deep participation of three core units under Shenzhen Metro Group - Shenzhen Municipal Institute, Shenzhen Railway International, and Shenzhen Building Materials - successfully won the bid for the Hanoi Metro Line 5 project in Vietnam. This super project with a total investment of 19.2 billion yuan is not only a key puzzle of Vietnam's "two corridors and one circle" strategy, but also a milestone for Shenzhen rail transit enterprises to go global with an integrated model of "planning and design+equipment services+operation consulting".

Reconstructing the urban pattern of Hanoi

As a backbone express line connecting the central urban area of Hanoi and the satellite city of Hele, Metro Line 5 has a total length of 39.58 kilometers and 20 stations, connecting various underground, ground, and elevated laying methods. The project is designed to reach a speed of 120 kilometers per hour (both on the ground and elevated sections), and the underground section can also reach 90 kilometers per hour. After completion, it will become Hanoi's first urban rail transit line with a speed exceeding 100 kilometers per hour. Expected to be completed in 2029 and put into operation in 2030, this "golden artery" will directly alleviate the long-term traffic congestion along Shenglong Avenue, drive the coordinated development of industries and population along the route, and inject strong impetus into Hanoi's construction of a modern urban circle.

Shenzhen Standard Export Overseas

In this international bidding, three units under the Shenzhen Railway Group demonstrated strong professional strength. The Shenzhen Municipal Engineering Institute is responsible for the planning and design of the entire line, transforming the construction experience of Shenzhen Metro under complex geological conditions into local solutions in Vietnam; Shenzhen Railway International provides equipment technology services and joint debugging to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the train system; Shenzhen Building Materials focuses on supply chain management to ensure the stability and cost-effectiveness of project material supply. The three units jointly won a service contract worth 886 million yuan, accounting for nearly 5% of the total project investment, marking the upgrade of Shenzhen's rail transit "going global" from single project contracting to full industry chain output.

New paradigm of China's infrastructure going global

This winning bid is another important breakthrough for Shenzhen Railway Group after participating in projects in Thailand, Malaysia, and other countries. Unlike traditional engineering contracting models, Shenzhen Railway Group has integrated the full chain resources of planning and design, equipment supply, and operation management to deeply integrate Shenzhen's technical standards, management experience, and localized needs in the field of rail transit, forming a replicable and promotable "Shenzhen model". This "integrated" overseas strategy not only enhances the discourse power of Chinese enterprises in the international market, but also provides Southeast Asian countries with infrastructure solutions that are both economical and sustainable.

Chinese enterprises embrace the period of strategic opportunities

With the deepening implementation of the RCEP agreement, Southeast Asia has become a hot spot for global infrastructure investment. As one of the fastest growing economies among ASEAN countries, Vietnam is accelerating its urbanization process and its demand for infrastructure such as rail transit continues to rise. The winning of the bid by Shenzhen Railway Group not only affirms its technical strength and service ability, but also demonstrates the responsibility and responsibility of Chinese enterprises in participating in the construction of the "the Belt and Road".

In the future, as more "Shenzhen intelligent manufacturing" goes global, Chinese rail transit companies are expected to occupy a more important position in the global market competition.Editor/Bian Wenjun
