On January 5, 2026, the ground level railway project of Shenzhen Pinghu Hunan Integrated Logistics Hub was fully completed today. At the initial stage, it can carry more than 600000 TEUs/year, becoming a key node of high-speed rail express connecting Hangzhou Shenzhen and Guangzhou Shenzhen railways, and boosting the deep integration of the Greater Bay Area into the the Belt and Road logistics network.
In the early morning, as the first freight train slowly entered the newly built railway line of Shenzhen Pinghu South Comprehensive Logistics Hub, engineer Sun Zheng stood beside the track, the blueprint in his hand had turned into a criss crossing "steel artery" in front of him. As one of the first 23 national logistics hubs in China, this super project designed and built by China Railway Construction Corporation is reshaping the logistics pattern of the Greater Bay Area in a three-dimensional mode - with lower level railways running through, upper level intelligent warehousing, and peripheral road networks surrounding, seamlessly connecting sea and land transportation here.
The 'logistics giant' of railway transportation and intelligent warehousing
The Pinghu South Hub, with a total construction area of 1.11 million square meters, has overturned the traditional logistics park model. The railway line does not exist in isolation, but is vertically stacked with the smart storage space: after the goods are unloaded from the railway, they can be directly distributed to the upper storage area or peripheral roads through intelligent systems, greatly improving efficiency. Sun Zheng metaphorically said, "It's like building an overpass for logistics. Railways are the foundation, highways are the ring road, and shipping is the extended wing

A 4.6-kilometer railway line supports a capacity of 600000 TEUs
The completed ground level railway project is the "heart" of hub operation. The construction team has built and renovated a railway network with a total length of 4.6 kilometers on the basis of the existing freight yard, covering arrival and departure lines, shunting lines, and container operation lines. Sun Zheng revealed that these tracks can initially undertake a collection and distribution task of over 600000 TEUs per year, and connect main lines such as Hangzhou Shenzhen and Guangzhou Shenzhen, making Shenzhen a key node for high-speed rail express delivery. "In the future, the goods sent from the Great Bay Area can reach the coastal ports directly by railway, and then sail to the the Belt and Road to build a country together."
Targeting the largest multimodal transportation center in Asia by 2035
According to the plan, after the completion of the Pinghu South hub, the cargo throughput will reach 30 million tons by 2035, making it the largest single railway logistics center in China and the largest multimodal transportation hub in Asia. Keywords: Latest news on engineering construction
It will not only reduce the logistics cost of the Greater Bay Area by more than 30%, but also boost the efficient shipping of Made in China by strengthening the connectivity with the the Belt and Road region. The person in charge of Shenzhen Transportation Bureau commented, "This is not only a warehouse and track, but also the 'scheduling brain' of the international supply chainEditor/Yang Meiling
