On January 7, 2026, the Dayi Pumped Storage Power Station project in Sichuan Province, with a total investment of 10 billion yuan, officially entered the public bidding stage, marking a crucial step from the planning blueprint to the implementation of the project for this energy hub that shoulders the responsibility of peak shaving and supply guarantee for the Sichuan Chongqing power grid. The project owner Gezhouba (Dayi) Pumped Storage Development Co., Ltd. has initiated a bidding process for survey, design, and special report preparation services. The funding source is self raised by the enterprise, and all preliminary preparations have been fully carried out.

The prominent location advantage points to first-class large-scale (1) energy projects

The power station is located in Heming Town, Dayi County, Chengdu City, and is positioned as a daily regulated pure pumped storage power station. The initial installed capacity is 1.8 million kilowatts, which belongs to the first-class large (1) type project. After completion, it will be integrated into the Sichuan power grid for operation. The project has unique location conditions, with a straight-line distance of only 65 kilometers from Chengdu city center, 10 kilometers from Chengdu Third Ring Expressway, and about 55 kilometers from Chengdu West 500 kV Substation. The convenient transportation and power grid location have laid a solid foundation for efficient power transmission and rapid grid connection.

Multi functional support to safeguard the safety and stability of Rongcheng power grid

The power station hub consists of core components such as an upper reservoir, water conveyance system, underground powerhouse, ground switch station, lower reservoir, and water replenishment facilities, with a static investment scale of 10 billion yuan. After its operation, it will undertake multiple functions such as peak shaving, frequency modulation, and phase modulation, as well as emergency backup power supply and "black start" capability. It can autonomously start power supply in the full black state of the power grid, becoming the "ballast stone" to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid in Chengdu and surrounding load centers.

The scope of this bidding includes the pre feasibility study of the power station, the survey and design during the feasibility study stage, as well as the full process technical services such as the preparation and approval of special reports at each stage. The service period will continue until the feasibility study report is reviewed. As a key project for optimizing the energy structure in the Sichuan Chongqing region, the construction of Dayi Pumped Storage Power Station will further enhance the new energy consumption capacity of the regional power grid and inject green momentum into the high-quality development of the Chengdu Chongqing economic circle.Editor/Bian Wenjin
