In the historic city of Bukhara, a green energy revolution is underway. Voltalia, a French company, recently announced the official launch of the first Artemisya hybrid energy cluster in Central Asia that integrates photovoltaics, wind power, and energy storage, marking a new stage of multi energy integration in Uzbekistan's power system.

Scale and Mode Innovation

The total installed capacity of Artemisya cluster is 526MW, including 126MW photovoltaic, 300MW wind power, and 100MW/200MWh energy storage system. Its biggest innovation lies in the "layered" power purchase agreement: wind and solar power sign a 25 year contract, while energy storage has a 15 year contract. This design not only matches the economic lifecycle of various technologies, but also reserves flexibility for future expansion and upgrading of the system.

The key to stable power grid

The 100MW/200MWh energy storage system is the heart of this project. It will undertake multiple roles such as peak shaving and valley filling, smoothing wind and solar power output, and providing frequency regulation services, effectively solving the intermittent problem of renewable energy and becoming the cornerstone of building a flexible power grid. This is highly consistent with Ukraine's policy of incorporating energy storage into its national strategy and supporting the integration of green power into the grid.

Green Ambition and Diversified Investment

Artemisya is a microcosm of Uzbekistan's new energy investment boom. The country aims to increase the installed capacity of renewable energy to 12GW by 2030. Currently, multiple large-scale projects are being promoted simultaneously, including Masdar's Nur Bukhara solar storage project, Sumitomo's 1GW photovoltaic+1.3GWh energy storage project, and large-scale solar storage facilities built by Chinese companies in Tashkent and other places. Diversified capital is jointly driving the country to become a green energy highland in Central Asia. Keywords: Middle East news, new energy information, energy storage energy

The completion of this project will not only provide a large amount of clean electricity for the local area, but its "wind solar energy storage+integrated management" model also provides a replicable successful example for many countries undergoing modernization of their power grids.Editor/Yang Meiling
