China and Vietnam jointly build a 41 kilometer airport subway new artery

In the early morning of Hanoi, the sun shines on the construction site of Cilian Bridge on the banks of the Red River, and the roar of machinery sounds like the pulse of urban development. On January 14, 2026, a meeting regarding the future transportation blueprint was underway at the headquarters of the Vietnamese government. Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh seong once again held the hand of Yan Jiehe, the founder of China Pacific Construction Group, and pointed to a dotted line on the map that meanders 41.4 kilometers: "We hope that Pacific Construction will participate in this subway connecting Johor Bahru and Long Thanh International Airport." This is the fourth meeting between the two sides, and behind it is the solid footprint of Chinese companies deeply cultivating the Vietnamese market, as well as Vietnam's urgent desire to promote infrastructure modernization. The story of cooperation is being written into the chapter of development between the two countries, from the bridges rising from Hanoi to the extended underground tracks.

Airport subway becomes a new focus

According to the Vietnamese government news portal website, Prime Minister Pham Minh City explicitly invited Pacific Construction Group to study and construct a subway line connecting Ho Chi Minh City's Johor Bahru International Airport and Long Thanh International Airport during the meeting. This planned track, with a total length of approximately 41.4 kilometers, will become an important link between Vietnam's north-south airport hub and enhance regional transportation efficiency. Fan Mingzheng emphasized that Pacific Construction, as a contractor, has been deeply involved in key infrastructure projects in Vietnam. This invitation aims to further expand investment, strengthen technology transfer and cooperation with local enterprises. Cooperation not only contributes to Vietnam's economic and social development, but also deepens bilateral relations between Vietnam and China, achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, "said the Prime Minister.

Simultaneous implementation of three infrastructure projects

Yan Jiehe revealed in the report that Pacific Construction Group is currently implementing three major projects in Hanoi: Cilian Bridge and its approach road (starting construction on May 19, 2025), Yuhui Bridge and its approach road (starting construction on August 19, 2025), and the Wengao to Huale section of Hanoi Metro Line 5 (starting construction on December 19, 2025). These projects cover bridges and rail transit, showcasing the diversified infrastructure capabilities of the enterprise. The Metro Line 5, which started construction last month, is led by Pacific Construction as the general contractor and has become a key link in Hanoi's urban transportation network. The Prime Minister welcomes this and encourages businesses to continue investing in large-scale projects in Vietnam in the future.
