The first annual cargo train of the Western Land Sea New Corridor, departing from Qinzhou Port East Station in Guangxi on January 31, 2026, slowly arrived at Tuanjie Village Station in Shapingba District, Chongqing on February 2, 2026, loaded with ASEAN specialty foods such as Vietnamese cassava starch, Indonesian shortening, and Thai coconut juice.

As the Chinese New Year approaches, imported New Year goods have become the new favorite on the people's purchasing list. According to relevant personnel, the peak of railway annual freight transportation usually arrives earlier than the peak of Spring Festival passenger transportation, with the aim of allowing ordinary people to buy more fresh and authentic annual goods as soon as possible. As an important freight channel connecting western China with ASEAN and other countries and regions, the Western Land Sea New Corridor continuously transports overseas grain, oil, specialty foods, and other goods to China, greatly enriching the domestic annual cargo market.

The dual upgrade of hardware facilities and software services has injected strong momentum into the transportation of New Year goods. Since 2025, Chongqing has made key efforts to enhance its trunk transportation capacity, unblock branch line congestion points, improve terminal distribution, and accelerate the construction of 146 major transportation projects, with an annual investment of 63.7 billion yuan. Among them, the Tuanjie Village Central Station continuously optimizes international freight train services, specially opens up a "green channel" for international annual freight trains, and implements the "four priorities" policy of priority booking "cabins", priority entry operations, priority ticketing and loading, and priority hanging transportation. In addition, the operation organization of the station has achieved full coverage of informatization, and through the railway data exchange platform, electronic port, and customs clearance system exchange platform, data exchange with ports, customs and other departments has been achieved, enabling smooth connection, integration and sharing of data throughout the entire transportation chain of goods, providing a solid guarantee for the rapid entry and exit of goods during the Chinese New Year.

It is reported that since January 2026, the Western Land Sea New Channel trains have transported a total of 114000 TEUs of goods. At present, the types of goods transported by trains have increased to more than 1300, covering 18 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government) in China and reaching 584 ports in 127 countries and regions around the world.
