The Damascus Cultural Heritage Art Center officially opened to the public in March 2024. The center was jointly built by the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Industry, and the Syrian Development Trust Fund, with the aim of protecting traditional cultural heritage and promoting the inheritance and development of traditional handicrafts. The first cultural heritage art center is located in Damascus, and it will also be built in Aleppo, Homs, and other cities in the future.

The Damascus Cultural Heritage Art Center covers an area of approximately 1300 square meters, with 61 open shops, 1 training classroom, 1 product exhibition hall, 1 coffee shop, and 1 incubation room that can accommodate about 80 people in the first phase. Here, craftsmen can make and directly sell products, and the government ensures the power supply here. Young people who are also interested in learning traditional handicrafts can apply to the government to join the training program, where these on-site craftsmen will teach their skills.

The first batch of open handicraft workshops include Mosaic products, Damascus painting, traditional clothing, brocade, copperware, silverware, stone painting, lamps, woodworking, ceramics, glassware, musical instruments, stone carving, painting, and more.Editor/Bian Wenjun
