In the context of the in-depth promotion of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the economic cooperation between Central Asia and the Russian Far East is ushering in new breakthroughs. Recently, high-level meetings between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Buryatia in Russia have released positive signals, with both sides planning to expand cooperation in various fields such as trade, infrastructure, and tourism. This not only injects new impetus into the economies of the two regions, but also creates new opportunities for Chinese enterprises to invest in related fields.

Uzbekistan's Consul General Aslam Akbarov made it clear during the talks that both sides should strengthen cooperation, increase Uzbekistan's supply of fruit and vegetable products to Buryatia, and expand the scale of importing livestock from Buryatia. This proposal has received a positive response from the Russian side. The leaders of Buryatia pointed out that animal husbandry is an important pillar of economic cooperation between the two regions. Currently, Uzbekistan experts have participated in construction projects in Buryatia, such as cooperating with PIK company to build modern residential buildings in the center of Ulan Ude, providing strong support for cooperation.
In addition to economic cooperation, both sides also emphasized joint projects in the cultural and humanitarian fields. In Uzbekistan, especially in the Surkhandaria Oblast, there are ancient Buddhist sites such as Kara Tepa and Fayaztepa preserved, which are of great appeal to Buddhist scholars. Both sides plan to further tap into tourism potential and promote cultural exchanges through exchanging scientific delegations and organizing business inspections.

To ensure the continuous deepening of cooperation, Uzbekistan proposes that both sides regularly organize business delegation visits and establish a long-term communication mechanism. The visit of Buryat experts to Ukraine in the autumn of 2025 has set a good example for this mechanism, and in the future, both sides will explore cooperation possibilities in more fields, adding new vitality to regional economic development.Editor/Yang Meiling
