The festive atmosphere of the Spring Festival has not yet dissipated. In the mountainous area near Gori City in central Georgia, huge crane arms cut through the cold sky, slowly lifting and precisely docking sections of white wind turbine towers. Engineers from China and Georgia on the ground are working together to pull the cable wind rope, and their exhaled white air instantly blends into the wind and snow. This is the site of the largest Ruyi West Wind Power Project currently under construction in Georgia, and it is also the third Spring Festival spent by the site manager Luo Yongjin overseas.

It takes about 5 days to complete the hoisting of a wind turbine, and the schedule is tight. We must stick to it, "said Luo Yongjin. This project, provided by China Goldwind Technology Co., Ltd. with wind turbine equipment and participated in construction and operation, has a total installed capacity of 206 megawatts and is transforming Georgia's high-quality wind energy resources into tangible clean electricity.

The 'Green Engine' in Wind and Snow

The location of the Ruisi project is a well-known wind energy resource area in Georgia, but the gift of nature, "wind," also comes with challenges. The complex wind conditions and the continuous large-scale snowfall this winter have brought great difficulties to equipment transportation and on-site construction.

Encountering severe weather in mountainous areas is common, "said Erkan Yalezhe, the manager of the project supervision team." However, the Chinese team has a sound emergency plan that can quickly adjust the work plan and avoid schedule delays while ensuring safety. Efficient communication and collaboration have become the key to overcoming difficulties. The medium speed permanent magnet wind power generation technology adopted in the project, combined with innovative airfoil blades and full power converter technology, can maintain reliable performance even under complex conditions, reflecting the international leading level of Chinese wind power technology.

Respect deepens in practice

Georgy Alavize is the person in charge of comprehensive safety and environmental management for the project, and this is his fourth collaboration with a Chinese engineering and technical team. Georgia did not have such a large-scale wind power project before. Chinese engineers have rich experience and high professional level, which helped us overcome many difficulties, "said Alavize frankly." I have always had respect for China's technology and construction capabilities in the field of infrastructure, and after cooperation, this respect has become even deeper

It is this close and seamless cooperation that drives the project steadily forward. A wind turbine stands up from the ground, with huge blades lying still waiting to be installed. They are not only equipment, but also the crystallization of the wisdom and sweat of the builders of China and Georgia, jointly witnessing the historic step taken by Georgia's wind power industry.

Building a new benchmark for future energy

The significance of the Ruyi West Wind Power Project goes far beyond the present. According to the plan of the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, it is expected that by 2033, the total installed capacity of electricity in Georgia will increase to 9848 megawatts, with a target of 850 megawatts for wind power installation. The Ruyi Xi project, as an important component, is laying a solid foundation for this blueprint.

Yalezhe commented, "The wind turbines provided by Chinese companies have passed international and Georgian dual certification, and they are helping Georgia build a benchmark wind power project. After the project is fully put into operation, it is expected that the annual power generation can meet the electricity needs of 200000 households, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 400000 tons per year, and have a profound impact on optimizing Georgia's energy structure and promoting green development.

The wind and snow will eventually pass, and spring has arrived. When the last wind turbine stands on the mountain top of Georgia, it will not only turn against the wind to produce clean electricity, but also serve as a vivid footnote for win-win cooperation along the the Belt and Road, and continue to deliver the temperature of Chinese technology, Chinese programs and Chinese builders.Editor/Yang Meiling
