According to Iran's Fars News Agency on March 3, 2026, Mohammad Akbarzad, Deputy Commander of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Navy, stated that the Strait of Hormuz is completely under the control of the Iranian Navy, and more than ten oil tankers have been hit by shells in the strait.

Akbarzad said that the Revolutionary Guard Navy has repeatedly warned that the Strait of Hormuz is in a state of war, and any vessel could be hit by shells or drones. But there are still more than ten oil tankers ignoring warnings, which have been hit and burned down by shells.

Akbarzad emphasized that after Iran announced the ban on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, oil tankers, merchant ships, and fishing boats are no longer able to pass through the strait.Editor/Yang Meiling
