In the Azerbaijan Ministry of Energy building in Baku, a map of wind energy resources in the Caspian Sea area was displayed on the conference table. Representatives from China Power Construction Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. and experts from Algeria sat around, pointing their fingers over the sea area marked with the words "2 gigawatts" on the blueprint. On this day, both sides officially finalized the roadmap for a new round of renewable energy cooperation, injecting green energy from the East into the land along the ancient Silk Road.

Focus on the two key projects of scenery

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shabazov held talks with the Executive Vice President of China Power Construction Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., focusing on the construction progress of a 160 MW solar power plant and the development plan of a 2 GW offshore wind power project. Both parties clarify that the grid connection of solar power plants has been included in the second phase of Azerbaijan's renewable energy development plan, and the grid research results provided by the China Electric Power Planning Engineering Research Institute will provide key technical support for subsequent power consumption.

Explore opportunities for digital transformation in energy

During the meeting, both sides also exchanged views on the latest policy trends in China's power industry and deeply discussed the new challenges and opportunities in the field of energy digitization. Against the backdrop of accelerating changes in the global energy landscape, both sides agree that the deep integration of digital technology and renewable energy industries will open up broader space for cooperation between the two countries. Precise docking helps with strategic transformation

Azerbaijan is accelerating the diversification of its energy structure and aims to achieve 6 gigawatts of renewable energy installed capacity connected to the grid by 2030. With China's technological accumulation and equipment advantages in the field of new energy, PowerChina will rely on the results of this meeting to accurately meet the actual needs of wind and photovoltaic projects in Azerbaijan. This cooperation is not only the deepening of China Arab energy industry synergy, but also an important step for Powerchina to expand the market in Transcaucasia and serve the the Belt and Road Initiative.Editor/Gao Xue
