On March 20, 2026, Malaysian natural gas supplier Gas Malaysia officially launched the development of the Yan Kedah LNG regasification terminal project. The company has obtained a project letter to proceed from the Energy Commission of Malaysia, EC, and the project has entered the next stage of implementation, including detailed engineering design, financing implementation, site preparation, and related preliminary work.

The project is located in Renbao, Kedah Prefecture, west of Pulau Bunting, and will construct an FSRU with a planned annual re gasification capacity of 6 million tons. The project is expected to invest approximately 2 to 3 billion Malaysian Ringgit, equivalent to approximately 507.8 to 761.6 million US dollars. The company stated that the specific financing model for the project will be determined in the subsequent stages.
