When the Fuxing train travels at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the scenery outside the window is no longer monotonous, but a flowing ecological picture. In recent years, China's railways have evolved from mere steel arteries connecting urban and rural areas to winding green barriers spanning thousands of miles. Data shows that during the 14th Five Year Plan period, the mileage of railway greening increased from 53800 kilometers to 65900 kilometers, with a growth rate of 22.4%. This continuously extending green ribbon is becoming the most moving pulse on the beautiful map of China.

New lines and old roads are being renovated together
Railway greening is no longer just a retroactive ticket, but resonates with engineering construction on the same frequency. For the construction of new railways, the railway department implements full process pre intervention management to ensure that all new lines opened in 2025 achieve synchronous greening and main engineering standards, making the new lines a scenic line as soon as they are opened. For existing lines, efforts will be made to fill the gaps in the forest belt through special afforestation and voluntary tree planting, and a dense protective net will be woven. Under the guidance of the national dual carbon strategy in 2026, the railway sector is deeply integrating carbon reduction and green expansion into its construction genes, promoting green and low-carbon transformation.
Hold the bottom line and control desertification
Green not only needs to be planted alive, but also managed safely. To solve the hidden danger of tree encroachment, the railway department broke down the barriers of land ownership, standardized the disposal process of dangerous trees, and there were no major fires throughout the year, thus maintaining the bottom line of transportation safety. What is even more exciting is the thunderous management of sand hazards - out of the 3267 kilometers of sand damaged railways on the entire route, 2654 kilometers have completed the management, with a management rate of 81.2%. The yellow sand that used to devour the railway tracks has now been firmly locked in and transformed into a lush ecological corridor. Keywords: railway greening, development of Chinese railways

From cold sleepers to warm soil, China Railway is writing a high scoring green answer sheet. This is not only an increase in mileage numbers, but also a profound change in development concepts. When the steel dragon deeply integrates with the green mountains and rivers, it carries not only a flowing China, but also a vibrant future.Editor/Cheng Liting
