On March 30, 2026, with the official issuance of the construction directive, a strong green current ripple occurred among the towering mountains of the Panxi Plateau. As the first ultra-high voltage AC transmission and transformation project to start construction by State Grid during the 15th Five Year Plan period, the Panxi ultra-high voltage AC project is not only a super infrastructure, but also a key component of the construction of a clean energy strong province in Sichuan. Building a new pattern of 'three giveaways and three acceptances'

The Panxi region, as the strategic transmission end of the national "West East Electricity Transmission", has exceeded 50 million kilowatts of clean energy installed capacity, but the "bottlenecks" in the external transmission channels have long constrained development. The total investment of this project is about 23.2 billion yuan. Two 1000 kV substations will be built in Panxi and Chuannan, and Tianfu South Station will be expanded. It will not only directly deliver 18.2 billion kWh of clean electricity annually to the Chengdu Plain and Chuannan Load Center, but also promote the formation of a strong provincial power grid pattern of "three transmission and three reception" in Sichuan through networking with the Sichuan Chongqing Ultra High Voltage Project, completely connecting the two main lines of energy transmission.

Breaking the record for ultra-high voltage construction

The geological conditions along the project route are extremely complex, with the highest altitude exceeding 3600 meters and the maximum ice cover thickness reaching 50 millimeters. Faced with the dual challenges of high mountains, canyons, and extreme weather conditions, the builders will break multiple records: Panxi Station, as the first ultra-high voltage station in China with an altitude of 2000 to 3000 meters, will achieve comprehensive standardization of equipment; For the first time, a reinforced tension tower has been applied in extremely heavy ice areas, and an intelligent monitoring and early warning system for the entire process of geological disasters has been constructed. Especially the application of domestically produced core secondary equipment for ultra-high voltage comprehensive products marks China's achievement of high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement in this field.

Promote rural revitalization in Yi areas

As the first ultra-high voltage project to penetrate deep into the Yi region, its significance goes far beyond electricity itself. The project construction will drive employment for over ten thousand people both upstream and downstream, transforming Liangshan's resource endowment into an economic advantage.
