Recently, China Electric Power Construction Indonesia Co., Ltd. and Indonesia Tataran Medea Sarana Co., Ltd. officially signed the construction general contract for the TMS nickel mining project in Indonesia. This is not only an order worth 5.456 billion yuan, but also another landmark event of China's infrastructure strength deeply embedded in the upstream of the global new energy industry chain.

For China Power Construction Corporation, winning the TMS project is a crucial step in extending its traditional infrastructure to general contracting for resource development projects; For Indonesia, this means that its globally leading nickel ore reserves will accelerate the transformation into tangible economic development momentum.

60 months of full process tackling

According to the contract agreement, PowerChina Indonesia will be fully responsible for the "physical work" and "technical work" of the TMS nickel mine project. The scope of work covers the entire construction process from mining stripping, ore blending, transportation, storage to final shipment and transportation. At the same time, it also needs to undertake supporting projects such as temporary facility construction, road construction and maintenance in the mining area.

The project duration is as long as 60 months, which means that China Electric Power Construction will carry out a long-term engineering project in Indonesia.

Nickel is a key raw material for new energy vehicle batteries and stainless steel. As a major player in global nickel reserves and production, Indonesia's advancement of this project will directly enhance the efficiency of local nickel resource development and supply, meeting the growing demand for key minerals in the global market.

Overseas orders exceeded 40 billion in the first quarter

The TMS nickel mine project is not an isolated case of China Power Construction in recent times. Since the beginning of 2026, China Power Construction's overseas business has shown a strong momentum of "multi-point flowering". In early March of this year alone, the company disclosed three overseas heavyweight projects intensively:

European Infrastructure: Matshevo Andryevica Expressway Project in Montenegro

Middle East New Energy: UAE Abu Dhabi 2.1GW Photovoltaic+7.75GWh Energy Storage Project

Indonesian Resources: TMS Nickel Mine Project

The total amount of these three items has exceeded 20 billion yuan. If we look at the entire first quarter, the significant increase in the amount of new overseas contracts signed by China Power Construction shows the strong competitiveness of Chinese infrastructure enterprises in the global market.

From infrastructure output to mutual benefit and win-win situation

China Power Construction's layout in Indonesia has long gone beyond simple engineering contracting. By participating in large-scale resource development projects such as TMS, Chinese companies are bringing mature engineering management experience and technical standards into Indonesia.

Indonesia is a key country market for China Electric Power Construction in Southeast Asia, with achievements in water conservancy, electricity and other fields. The signing of nickel mining projects further consolidates its market position.

While promoting engineering construction, China Electric Power Construction emphasizes deepening cooperation with the local community and fulfilling social responsibilities. This "mutual benefit and win-win" model not only ensures the timely implementation of the project, but also promotes the coordinated development of China Indonesia economic and trade cooperation and infrastructure construction, and contributes to the high-quality development of the the Belt and Road.

In the next five years, as the TMS nickel mine project gradually turns from a blueprint into a reality, China Power Construction Corporation's resume in Indonesia will add another heavy medal.Editor/Yang Meiling
