Recently, Suqian Era Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. signed a supply order for 600MWh iron chromium flow batteries with German company Redox One, and simultaneously signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will carry out multidimensional and in-depth cooperation in the field of energy storage.
Redox One focuses on the research and development of iron chromium flow batteries, mastering core technologies such as electrolyte and rebalancing. Its parent company Tharisa is a comprehensive resources group headquartered in Cyprus and rooted in South Africa. It is an important global producer of chromite and platinum group metals, with abundant mineral reserves, providing solid support for the development of Redox One's energy storage business.
Suqian Era Energy Storage has been deeply involved in the field of energy storage for many years, focusing on the full industry chain layout of water-based organic, iron chromium, and all vanadium flow energy storage batteries. It has achieved technological breakthroughs in core materials such as electrolytes and ion exchange membranes, and its products cover various scenarios such as long-term energy storage, precise frequency regulation, and substation energy storage.

This cooperation between the two parties aims to jointly build a core raw material supply chain for iron chromium flow batteries. Leveraging the chromium ore resource advantages of Tharisa, the parent company of Redox One, and combining Suqian Era Energy Storage's material purification and application technology, we aim to create an integrated supply chain system from chromium ore mining, smelting to electrolyte production, breaking through the bottleneck of raw material supply for iron chromium flow batteries and significantly reducing the cost of iron chromium electrolytes. It is expected to reach $25-30/kWh by 2028; The second is to jointly carry out technology research and industrialization, focusing on key technical challenges such as improving energy density and optimizing costs of iron chromium flow batteries. The first batch of iron chromium flow energy storage products has completed factory acceptance and been sent to Europe; The third is to sign an order for a 600MWh iron chromium liquid flow energy storage system, which will be prioritized for application in Tharisa's mines to achieve clean power supply in mines; Fourthly, we will work together to expand the global market, focusing on regions with strong energy storage demand such as Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia, promoting the large-scale application of iron chromium flow batteries, and assisting in the clean transformation of the global energy structure.
Currently, the global energy transition is accelerating, with large-scale integration of renewable energy sources such as wind power and photovoltaics. Long term energy storage is a key support for solving the intermittent and volatile problems of new energy, and market demand continues to explode. Iron chromium flow batteries have become the preferred technology path in the field of long-term energy storage due to their core advantages such as long cycle life, high safety, low cost, and wide temperature range operation. They can be widely used in grid side peak shaving, deep adjustment of coal-fired power plants, large-scale base distribution and storage, zero carbon parks, data centers, and other fields, with enormous development potential.
The cooperation between Era Energy Storage and Redox One this time is not only a concrete manifestation of the transformation of China's energy storage enterprises' overseas model from product output to ecological co construction, but also an important achievement of deepening cooperation between China and Africa in the field of new energy.
