At both ends of the screen, the hands of the principals of the two countries crossed the mountains and seas and "grasped" each other. Recently, China University of Petroleum and Kakayev International University of Petroleum and Natural Gas in Turkmenistan held a video conference to finalize the details of the agreement for the "Turkmenistan China Energy Training Center" clause by clause. This means that since 2009, China University of Petroleum has cultivated the "old friendship" of over a thousand professional talents for Turkmenistan, officially upgrading it to a new model of jointly building physical training centers.

From memo to construction drawing

This meeting is not a starting point, but a "refined construction" for the 2023 memorandum of cooperation.

Both parties have focused on improving the legal and organizational provisions, and confirmed that they will operate through a dual track approach of "advanced training+summer internship". The center not only needs to provide further education for teachers and experts, but also organize summer practice for students from both schools to translate agreements from paper to reality.

The upgrading of cooperation is driven by the continuous promotion of high-level officials from both countries. Recently, during the seventh meeting of the China Turkey Cooperation Committee, the Vice Premiers of the two countries witnessed the signing of the Agreement on the Construction of the China Turkey Joint Energy Teaching Center, injecting national strategic momentum into university cooperation.

Talent anxiety in energy rich countries

Turkmenistan's natural gas reserves rank among the top in the world, and oil and gas are the lifeblood of the economy. However, the shortage of professional talents has become a "roadblock" to industrial upgrading.

With the deepening of natural gas cooperation between China and Turkey, there is an urgent need for composite talents who understand both technology and management at the project site. Simply introducing Chinese technology is no longer enough, cultivating local "hematopoietic capacity" has become an urgent task.

According to statistics from China University of Petroleum (Beijing), over the past decade, the university has trained more than a thousand professional talents for Turkey and trained nearly 400 local employees. This long-term demand is the direct driving force behind the accelerated implementation of the Joint Center.

Closed loop of education chain and industry chain

The essence of jointly building a training center is to bridge the last mile of "education technology industry".

The Future Center will rely on two school laboratories and oil field sites to carry out customized training. This is in line with the ongoing preparation of the "Luban Workshop" in Turkmenistan, which aims to establish a complete training system from universities to the workplace.

For earthworks, this is the cradle for cultivating local high-end talents; For China, this is the talent cornerstone for ensuring the stable operation of long-term energy cooperation projects. As verified by the summer school project "Energy Talents · Friendship Ambassadors", talent exchange is the most enduring bond in energy cooperation between the two countries.

From the first batch of international students in 2009 to the current joint training center, China Turkey energy cooperation is deepening from "project cooperation" to "standard and talent co construction". When education injects intellectual support into energy, the cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas field will also go more stable and further.Editor/Yang Meiling
