Unit 1 of Huaneng Zhengning Power Plant has successfully completed a 168 hour unmanned continuous operation test. As a heavyweight achievement of the national key research and development plan "Key Technology Research and Application Demonstration of Intelligent Coal fired Power Plants" project, this test is the first time that a million kilowatt coal-fired power unit in China has achieved 168 hours of unmanned continuous operation, marking a leapfrog upgrade of China's coal-fired power generation equipment from automation to intelligence and unmanned.

Multi party collaborative joint research and development
This demonstration project is led and coordinated by China Huaneng, with Huaneng Xi'an Thermal Power Institute working together with 9 industry, academia, and research institutions including Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Southeast University, and Xi'an Jiaotong University to tackle the challenge. Based on years of mature experience in power production and operation, Huaneng Xi'an Thermal Power Institute is fully responsible for the overall technical scheme planning, core technology research and development, system integration construction, and experimental verification of the project. Huaneng Zhengning Power Plant provides on-site operating conditions and unit operation cooperation throughout the process, ensuring the smooth implementation of the demonstration project in all aspects.

The project has a prominent strategic position
Huaneng Zhengning Power Plant is affiliated with Huaneng Longdong Energy Base, the first multi energy complementary comprehensive energy base with a capacity of 10 million kilowatts in China. It is a key supporting peak shaving power source for the "Long Power to Lu" ultra-high voltage direct current transmission project, mainly used to smoothly absorb the intermittent fluctuations of wind and photovoltaic power, and ensure the safe and stable operation of the regional power grid. This national level research and development project is the first to demonstrate unmanned technology in a million kilowatt ultra supercritical unit, which requires overcoming multiple technical barriers such as complex system architecture and harsh operating conditions.

Abundant achievements in core technology
In order to solve a series of technical problems, China Huaneng has launched a special project on intelligent control systems in conjunction with the entire industry chain resources, focusing on the core goal of unmanned operation of units. It has successfully overcome four core technologies: hyper fusion intelligent control, multimodal data deep analysis, high-precision modeling of all operating conditions, and lightweight cloud edge collaboration. It has implemented 22 intelligent operation functions and created an integrated intelligent control system for traditional coal-fired power units. The project realizes intelligent cruise control, parameter automatic adjustment, and unmanned autonomous operation of the entire process of equipment start stop for a million kilowatt unit in the 30% to 100% full load range. The system can independently determine the optimal operating conditions, dynamically optimize control strategies and parameters, identify and dispose of more than 20 equipment failure hazards such as blockage, coal breakage, and overheating, effectively reducing manual operation and maintenance pressure and avoiding unit operation safety risks. After testing, the AGC regulation performance of Unit 1 of Zhengning Power Plant has significantly improved, and all assessment indicators for primary frequency regulation have been met. This project innovatively develops a three in one operation mode of "intelligent cruise+intelligent control+intelligent monitoring", breaking through pioneering technologies such as multi parameter collaborative regulation and heterogeneous cloud edge collaboration, and building a leading intelligent operation system for coal-fired power units in China.
