Recently, Jakarta Metro Corporation and Shenzhen Metro Group officially signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in Guangdong. This signing marks the establishment of a deep collaborative relationship between the two parties in the field of urban development guided by public transportation and high-capacity rail transit.
Faced with the enormous daily passenger flow pressure of 4 million people in Jakarta, Governor Praeno has made it clear that he will learn from the operational efficiency and service standards of Shenzhen Metro, in order to solve the problem of urban congestion through integrated development of rail transit and accelerate progress towards the vision of becoming one of the top 50 cities in the world by 2030.

Cracking the congestion dilemma
As a mega city, Jakarta has a daily average passenger flow of up to 4 million people, and traffic congestion has become the core bottleneck restricting the efficiency of urban operation. During the meeting, Governor Praeno pointed out that developing the subway system is not only a short-term measure to alleviate congestion, but also a long-term strategy to promote the integrated development of urban agglomerations. The President of Jakarta Metro also emphasized that this cooperation aims to promote the transformation of urban development mode from private car dependence to public transportation dominance, and the precise scheduling and efficient service of Shenzhen Metro under high-density road network are the benchmark experience that Jakarta urgently needs to introduce.
Deepen technological collaboration
According to the memorandum, the cooperation between the two parties is valid for two years, with a focus on TOD comprehensive development and high-capacity rail transit technology. Shenzhen Metro will export its mature system in integrated station city development, underground space utilization, and intelligent operation and maintenance, providing full cycle technical references for Jakarta's ongoing rail transit projects. By drawing on the Shenzhen model, Jakarta plans to build a commercial and living circle centered around rail stations, achieving a win-win situation of intensive land use and improved transportation efficiency, ensuring that rail transit construction is synchronized with urban expansion.

This cross-border cooperation is seen as a key milestone in upgrading Jakarta's public transportation system. Relying on the professional technology and operational wisdom of Shenzhen Metro, Jakarta is expected to establish new standards for rail transit construction in the next two years. This will not only effectively divert millions of daily commuters, but also reshape the urban spatial pattern through the TOD model. Keywords: subway, transportation
With the implementation of the cooperation project, Jakarta will significantly enhance its comprehensive urban carrying capacity, laying a solid foundation for its transportation and development to successfully become one of the top 50 cities in the world by 2030.Editor/Cheng Liting
