China and Uzbekistan recently reached a consensus to further expand cooperation in the energy sector, solidifying energy's position as a core pillar of bilateral trade and economic relations. This move not only consolidates the long-standing and stable energy supply and demand relationship between the two countries but also injects new impetus into regional energy security and sustainable economic development.

Uzbekistan is a major natural gas producer in Central Asia and possesses abundant oil and gas resources. In recent years, energy cooperation between China and Uzbekistan has continued to intensify, covering multiple areas including natural gas supply, oil and gas exploration and development, renewable energy projects, and energy infrastructure construction. Chinese enterprises actively participate in Uzbekistan's energy project investment and construction, helping the country improve resource development efficiency and diversify its energy structure.

Natural gas trade is the cornerstone of China-Uzbekistan energy cooperation. The China-Central Asia Gas Pipeline transits through Uzbekistan, providing a stable energy flow channel for both countries. At the same time, cooperation in clean energy fields such as solar and wind power is also gradually unfolding, aligning with Uzbekistan's energy transition strategy and China's green and low-carbon development philosophy. This consensus on expanding cooperation will further boost bilateral trade and investment, promote technological exchange and local employment, and solidify the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan. In the future, both sides also plan to explore new paths in areas such as hydrogen energy, energy storage, and digital energy management, pushing energy cooperation to a higher level and broader scope, and jointly writing a new chapter of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative framework.
