In the Balkan Oblast of southwestern Turkmenistan, on the banks of the Caspian Sea, a national economic engine is facing growing troubles. The Tukumenbash Refinery is a key industrial facility here, but the shortage of production water, like an invisible shackle, has long constrained the full release of its production capacity. Now, this bottleneck is about to be broken. With a key resolution recently signed by President Sherdar Berdymukhamedov, a modern seawater desalination plant has been officially put on the agenda, aiming to quench the thirst for this energy rich land and inject new development momentum.

This decision stems from in-depth discussions at the cabinet meeting of the Avaza National Tourism Zone on May 8th. The meeting focused on the economic development of Balkan Oblast, especially the operation of the oil and gas complex. After listening to the report, the President emphasized the need to continuously improve the work of the fuel energy complex and efficiently utilize natural resources. To this end, he signed a resolution aimed at significantly improving the supply of purified water to refining enterprises.keywords:Infrastructure News
According to the resolution, Soil and Stone Oil Konzern has been granted permission to use its own funds to sign a contract with Nur Mimar company to design and construct a complete set of facilities, including the Knal pumping station and supporting seawater desalination plant. The newly built seawater desalination plant is designed to have a daily processing capacity of 15000 cubic meters. The entire project is scheduled to officially start construction in June 2026 and is scheduled to be fully delivered for use in June 2029. This project not only directly supports the modernization and capacity improvement of refineries, but also is an important step for Turkmenistan to strengthen the development and utilization of resources along the Caspian Sea coast and ensure the industrial lifeline.Editor/Yang Meiling
