On May 18, 2026, Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding attended the "Dunhuang Culture Global Connection - Entering Zimbabwe" event. More than 100 people attended, including leaders and experts from the Gansu Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Dunhuang Academy, and Dunhuang Municipal Government, teachers and students from the University of Zimbabwe and Harare Institute of Technology, as well as representatives from the cultural and media circles in Zimbabwe.

Ambassador Zhou stated that this event provides an important platform for young students and cultural figures in Tianjin to understand Chinese history and perceive Chinese culture. It is a vivid practice of inheriting the spirit of the ancient Silk Road and deepening cultural exchanges between China and Tianjin. We look forward to both sides using the spirit of the Silk Road as a link to further promote the construction of a China Tianjin all-weather community with a shared future.

Dunhuang Academy expert Wei Jianpeng gave a special lecture on "Dunhuang and Grottoes in Time and Space" to the guests, systematically introducing the Dunhuang Grottoes art and the promotion of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures along the ancient Silk Road, as well as the achievements of Dunhuang Academy in cultural heritage protection and other aspects. The on-site guests interacted with Chinese people from afar in Gansu, creating a lively atmosphere.Editor/Gong Ziwei
