Hundreds of tower cranes are busy operating in the Oxagon floating industrial city along the Red Sea coast in northwestern Saudi Arabia. The world's largest green hydrogen plant has completed 92% of its construction and will officially start production in the second quarter of 2026. In the southwestern suburbs of Riyadh, hundreds of kilometers away, the pile foundation construction of the cliff stadium in the Jeddah Sports City has exceeded half, and this unique venue prepared for the 2034 World Cup is rising from the rock wall. Seven epic projects with a total investment of over 1.5 trillion US dollars, from the shores of the Red Sea to the hinterland of the Arabian Peninsula, are jointly drawing the economic map of Saudi Arabia and even the entire Middle East for the next decade.

Green hydrogen waiting for restart first

The total planned investment for NEOM New Future City is $500 billion, fully managed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

Among the three major sub projects, Oxagon Floating Industrial Lingang New City has become the only steadily under construction sector. Its green hydrogen plant has been completed by 92% and will officially start production in the second quarter of 2026, with an annual output of 1.2 million tons of green ammonia exclusively for the Japanese, Korean, and European markets. The Line linear mirror city, due to financial compression, has only completed the earthwork excavation of the 2.4-kilometer demonstration section at the western end of the original plan of 170 kilometers. The construction of the entire line has been suspended and postponed until after 2035. Due to the loss of the hosting rights for the 2029 Asian Winter Games, the main construction of Trojena Mountain Four Seasons Ski City has been suspended by 60%.

High end cultural tourism accelerates its formation

The Red Sea Resort and Amaala Health City have a total planned investment of 300 billion US dollars, developed by Red Sea Global. The construction of the first phase of Amaala Luxury Health Resort City has been completed by 72%, and the supporting comprehensive energy plant has been officially put into operation in the first quarter of 2026. The first batch of hotels are planned to be put into trial operation in the second half of 2026.

In the Red Sea Islands Resort, the beach dredging and backfilling project undertaken by China Harbour has been completed and handed over in May 2026. A total of 20.67 kilometers of artificial white sand beaches have been built, and the foundations of 15 high-end resort hotels have been completed.

Sports, transportation, accommodation rooms

The total investment of Jeddah Sports and Entertainment New City is 220 billion US dollars. As the core competition area of the 2034 World Cup, the pile foundation construction of Mohammed bin Salman Cliff Stadium has been completed by 60%, and MCC has won the bid for the steel structure of the entire section.
