In the global energy landscape, liquefied petroleum gas is an important clean fuel and chemical raw material, but due to its flammable, explosive, and volatile characteristics, it imposes almost stringent requirements on the safety performance of storage equipment. Recently, Angang Steel Co., Ltd. received good news - its independently developed SA-537M CL.1 high-end container steel has successfully supplied key energy projects along the the Belt and Road, which will be used for the construction of large LPG spherical tanks. This is not only a voyage of materials, but also another appearance of China's high-end manufacturing on the international stage.

Under the overall planning of Ansteel Product Development Center, the Technical Center relies on the integrated system of production, sales and research, and strictly follows ASME standards to carry out research and development. The R&D team has overcome a series of key technical challenges, from optimizing chemical composition to upgrading production processes, and then to regulating comprehensive mechanical properties. The SA-537M CL.1 steel plate, which was ultimately developed, maintains excellent toughness even at minus 20 degrees Celsius and undergoes rigorous simulated post weld heat treatment to ensure stable performance, fully meeting the long-term safe operation requirements of LPG spherical tanks.

This project not only requires extremely high performance indicators, but also faces multiple challenges such as tight delivery cycles and no precedent for large-scale production in China. The R&D team has achieved precise control over the entire production process through multiple rounds of technical testing and specialized research, achieving both delivery and mold welding performance standards, significantly improving process stability, and ensuring high-quality and on-time delivery. This not only reflects Ansteel's production organization capability, but also highlights the competitiveness of Chinese steel enterprises in the international high-end market.

The successful completion of the supply task further consolidated Angang's leading position in the high-end container steel industry and injected new impetus into the construction of energy infrastructure along the the Belt and Road.
