[Italian energy storage: 42GWh or 104GWh?]Italian power grid operator Terna has provided two sets of energy storage predictions: a conservative scenario of 42GWh and a benchmark scenario of 104GWh. Behind the gap lies the logic of phased advancement. The cumulative 26GWh from 2028 to 2029 is just the beginning, while the installed capacity of wind, solar, and photovoltaic power has reached 57GW, leaving a huge gap from the target of 107GW by 2030. Although FER X's new policy revitalizes new energy projects, it cannot solve the problem of grid connection and consumption, and energy storage has become a rigid demand. Combined with the downward trend in battery costs and the pressure of power grid regulation, breaking through 100 GWh by 2030 is not a blind expansion, but an inevitable result of energy transformation. On June 22, 2026, Zhonggong International announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, China Zhongyuan International Engineering Co., Ltd., signed a general contract for the construction of a 100 MW/102 MW independent hybrid energy storage power station in Changfeng County, Hefei City, Anhui Province with Yuankong Storage and Charging. The contract amount was 1.127 billion yuan, accounting for 9.75% of Zhonggong International's total operating revenue in 2025. According to the announcement, the project construction mainly includes the survey and design, supply, construction, testing, commissioning, inspection, and acceptance of the energy storage power station. The project period is 244 days from the date of commencement. Yuankong Energy Storage is a subsidiary of Yuandian (Beijing) Flywheel Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., a technology-based enterprise specializing in the research and industrialization of magnetic levitation flywheel energy storage technology. Its business covers areas such as grid side frequency regulation, rail transit energy recovery, and new energy vehicle supercharging stations.Editor/Gong Ziwei
On June 22, 2026, the Three Gorges Group Xinjiang Jimsar Million Photovoltaic Supporting Vanadium Liquid Flow Energy Storage Project was fully put into commercial operation one month ahead of schedule. The project is located in Jimsar County, Changji, with an energy storage capacity of 200000 kilowatts/1 million kilowatt hours, making it the largest all vanadium liquid flow energy storage power station in China. Relying on long-term energy storage technology, the equipment is safe, durable, and easy to expand. The project generates an average of 1.72 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, saving 519000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.424 million tons.Editor/Gong Ziwei
