Recently, the sea breeze swept over the busy construction site at the port of Suhar in Oman, and the roar of pile drivers shattered the tranquility here. In this industrial zone that used to only have the sound of cargo ship sirens, a steel dragon is gradually taking shape from the hands of Chinese engineers. For Shama, the project manager who came out of the small town of Brimy, this is not just a project, but also a moment when her railway dream woven with Chinese friends becomes a reality.
The first cross-border railway connects the bay
The construction of the first cross-border railway from Oman to the United Arab Emirates has reached a new milestone. The progress of the Hafit Railway Suhar Freight Station project, constructed by China Electric Power Construction, has exceeded half.

This railway line, with a total length of 238 kilometers, starts from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, in the west, and goes directly to Suhar via Ain and Buraimi. As the first cross-border railway in the Gulf region, it not only connects the important port of Suhal in northern Oman with the United Arab Emirates, but also completely reshapes the logistics map of the six Gulf countries and accelerates the process of regional economic integration.
Chinese technology supports low-carbon construction
At the construction site of Suhar Freight Station, Chinese technology is injecting green genes into this desert railway. The chief engineer of the project, You Hongbo, introduced that the construction team has applied new concrete materials for the first time in Oman and accurately adjusted the mix proportion according to the local special soil conditions.

This innovation not only ensures structural strength, but also effectively reduces the consumption of steel bars and cement, and reduces the carbon emissions generated by the transportation of abandoned soil. At the same time, Chinese made non falling wheel CNC lathes have also been introduced into maintenance workshops, building a solid defense line for the safe operation of cross-border trains in the future.
Nurture talents together and nurture the flower of friendship
In addition to the hardcore engineering facilities, this railway is also a bond of people to people connection. Currently, 9 graduates from local universities in Oman have taken root and grown in the project. Keywords: the Belt and Road news, cross-border railway

Project manager Shama is one of the outstanding ones, and she said that with the help of her Chinese colleagues, her career stage has become unprecedentedly broad. China Power Construction Corporation is committed to reserving a group of local elites in railway construction, quality and safety management for Oman through a systematic talent training program. The dual output of technology and talent has made this cross-border railway a vivid footnote to the benefits of China Arab cooperation for local development.Editor/Gao Xue
