On August 16, the Zero‑Carbon Factory Licensing Ceremony and Sustainable Development Initiative Launch Event themed “Zero‑Carbon Driving, Smart Future‑Oriented Development” was held at Weichai Digital Industrial Park. At the ceremony, China Quality Certification Center granted Weichai the industry’s first Zero‑Carbon Factory certificate for internal‑combustion engines.

A zero‑carbon factory is an advanced iteration of a green factory, where enterprises achieve net‑zero carbon emissions via in‑house emission reduction and carbon offsets.Since its founding in 2021, Weichai Digital Industrial Park has set its sights on zero‑carbon goals. By deploying key technologies including wind, solar, energy storage, hydrogen and residual energy utilization, the park cuts carbon emissions at the source. It has built an integrated management framework featuring “carbon reduction at source, emission abatement in production and intelligent carbon control”, and ultimately achieves 100% carbon neutrality through carbon‑credit offsets.

Green and low‑carbon transition is not a solo effort by a single enterprise, but a systemic transformation covering the entire industrial and value chains. As a core leader in the power equipment manufacturing sector, Weichai, together with the on‑site EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) expert team and representatives of domestic and overseas partners, jointly issued a green sustainable‑development initiative:‑ Advance green innovation to explore new tracks for the zero‑carbon industry;‑ Develop green products to reshape low‑carbon genes across the full life cycle;‑ Pursue green operations to foster a new landscape for green supply chains;‑ Upgrade green services to consolidate the foundation for mutual trust in cooperation;‑ Build a shared green future and embark on a new journey toward sustainable development.

Since launching carbon management in 2020, Weichai has won a series of honors including the national‑level Green Factory title and China’s Carbon Peaking Pioneer Enterprise. It was listed on the 2024 Forbes China ESG 50, received the 2025 International Green Design Award, and obtained the first carbon‑management system certification in the internal‑combustion engine industry.The completion of the zero‑carbon factory marks another vivid practice of Weichai’s commitment to green development.
