Iranian Foreign Minister Alaghi stated in a media interview on September 13, 2026 that the meeting to be held in Oman on September 14 will focus on discussing a new sea passage in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran will introduce the details of the relevant agreement between Iran and Amanda and the new channel roadmap to the attending countries at that time.
Alaghi emphasized that reaching an agreement between Iran and Oman does not mean that the Strait of Hormuz will reopen. The prerequisite for Iran to reopen the strait is for the United States to fulfill its commitments made in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Iran believes that the responsibility for maintaining regional security and stability should be fully borne by the countries in the region. Iran hopes that this dialogue can create conditions for regional countries to engage in consultations on issues of common concern in the future.Editor/Min Jing
