[Successful trial operation of 2-ton load-bearing tethered balloon] On September 21, 2026, the first 2-ton load tethered balloon in China was successfully put into trial operation in the Xizang section of the ± 800 kV UHV DC transmission project from Southeast Tibet to the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. The diameter of the tethered balloon in this trial run is 25 meters and the volume is 8000 cubic meters. By controlling multiple tethered cables to synchronously retract and release, heavy construction materials can be lifted off the ground and smoothly moved along the predetermined route towards the mountainous work site.Editor/Gong Ziwei
