Recently, the Gezhouba-Zhefu joint venture formed by China Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd. and Zhefu Holding Company received the "Notice of Winning the Bid" from the Niger Kandaji Hydropower Company, notifying that the Gezhouba-Zhefu joint venture is the powerhouse of the Kandaji Hydropower Station in Niger. The winning bidder of the equipment supply and installation project has a total contract value of US$113,280,675.64, which is equivalent to RMB 794 million, of which the company’s contract value is approximately RMB 190 million; all delivery will be completed within 30 months after the purchase contract takes effect.

The Kandaji Hydropower Station in Niger is by far the only and largest hydropower station in Niger, and is known as the Three Gorges Project in Niger.

The project is located about 180km upstream of Niamey, the capital of Niger. It is a multifunctional hydropower project focusing on power generation and taking into account water supply and irrigation. The power station has an installed capacity of 130MW and an average annual power generation of 617 million kilowatt-hours after completion. It will greatly solve the power supply shortage in Niger’s capital Niamey and its surrounding areas, help Niger get rid of the difficulty of relying on imports of electricity, and promote local economic development. During the construction of the project, it will also provide thousands of jobs for Niger and cultivate a large number of technical talents in Niger.

In his speech, President of the Republic of Niger Isofo Mahama stated that the Kandaji Hydropower Station, as Niger's largest hydropower station, is of vital importance to Niger's future economic construction. Editor/Tian Zengpeng
