On October 20, 2020, after 6 hours of continuous operation, the China-Laos China-Laos double-track Amo River Bridge was closed.
On the turquoise river surface, the 617-meter-long Amo River Double-Line Extra Large Bridge spans both banks. The bridge is supported by 9 piers. The two piers in the middle have a depth of more than 80 meters below the water surface. Under such special geographical location and geological conditions, construction workers have to face great difficulties in order to achieve closure within the millimeter-level error range.
The pouring operation of the closing section of the bridge started at 1 am on October 20. After the 6-hour cement pouring was completed, the construction staff immediately carried out measurements and data comparisons to confirm that the various parameters of the bridge closure met the standards. The bridge deck of the Amo River Bridge has a total of 132 sections, which are assembled one by one from both sides of the river to the middle. This construction method is like building blocks at high altitude, and the operation is difficult. Therefore, during the construction process, the construction unit specially carried out targeted scientific research and successively solved 5 technical problems.
Both ends of the Amo River Bridge are tunnels. The smooth closure of the bridge creates favorable conditions for the subsequent laying of tracks and beams. According to the current construction organization, the laying of China-Laos railway tracks will arrive here in January next year. The total length of the China-Laos Railway is more than 1,000 kilometers. After it is completed and opened to traffic, it will only take about 3 hours from Kunming to Jinghong, and it is expected that Kunming to Vientiane, Laos, will arrive in the evening.Editor/Luo Wentao
