On January 10, 2021, the Nanjing Municipal Transportation Bureau issued an announcement that the construction of the 356 Provincial Highway Pukou Xijiang Road to the Jiangsu-Anhui Province boundary was opened, with a total investment of about 4.39 billion yuan.

The project starts from Pukou Xijiang Road and ends on the north side of Mashan River in the border of Jiangsu and Anhui Provinces, with a total length of 19.988 kilometers. A total of 3 extra-large bridges and bridges (including interoperable main line bridges) with a bridge length of 3149m; 5 separate upper span bridges (urban viaducts) with a bridge length of 3374.1m; 7 medium and small bridges with a bridge length of 236m; 3 pedestrian bridges The bridge is 250.2m long; 52 culvert structures. The section from the starting point to Yuhuo is a six-lane first-class road with a design speed of 80 km/h; the river crossing section from Yuhuo Road to Jinwen Road is separated from main and auxiliary roads. The main road is a four-lane first-class road with a design speed of 80 km/h. Two-way four-lane road (arranged on both sides of the main road), with a design speed of 50 km/h, equipped with non-motorized vehicle lanes and sidewalks; Jinwen Road crossing to the end section: a two-way four-lane first-class highway with a design speed of 80 km/h.

The project is divided into three bid sections. The Second Public Administration of China Communications Engineering won the S356-SG4 bid section for 363 million yuan; Nanjing West Road and Bridge Group won the S356-SG5 bid section for 259 million yuan; China Railway Bridge Bureau won the S356-SG6 bid section for 263 million yuan.
