On April 27, 2021, the maiden voyage of "CMA CGM Iguazu" berthed at Qingdao Port QQCT Wharf of Shandong Port. This is the first LNG (liquefied natural gas)-powered container ship ushered in Qingdao Port of Shandong Port. Compared with traditional fuel ships, LNG-powered ships can reduce sulfur dioxide and fine particulate matter emissions by 99%, reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 85% and carbon dioxide emissions by 20%.

"CMA CGM Iguazu" is a CMA CMA CGM Mediterranean line operating vessel. It will call at 17 ports in 10 countries along the route. The first voyage of Shandong Port Qingdao Port will load and unload 8518TEU containers at QQCT.

QQCT attaches great importance to the operation of the first LNG ship, and has conducted in-depth research in the early stage to formulate ship plans scientifically and reasonably. During the operation, skilled and experienced operators were dispatched as the main force, and they actively cooperated with the dispatching command center, pilot station and other units to successfully complete the operation and berthing tasks of the first LNG ship with excellent skills. It is understood that the shipping capacity of this route will be upgraded in the future, and ships with a capacity of LNG 14,800 TEU will be replaced by ships with a capacity of 11,000 TEU. Editor/XuNing
