On June 30, 2021, the (North) Jingxin (Xinjiang) Expressway (G7) "Last Kilometer" Wutong Daquan to Mulei Section Highway Project was officially opened to traffic, marking the Beijing-Xinjiang Expressway with the longest mileage through the desert Gobi in the world The whole line was completed and opened to traffic.

This road runs from Beijing through Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Gansu, all the way through Gobi, grasslands, wetlands, and mountains to Urumqi, Xinjiang, with a total length of more than 2,800 kilometers.

The Jingxin Expressway is the second all-weather road artery in and out of Xinjiang after the Lianhuo Expressway. Its opening to traffic has shortened the road mileage between Beijing and Urumqi by more than 1,300 kilometers.
