On September 23, 2021, with the start of construction of the Zhongwei Second Station of the Middle Section (Zhongwei-Jian) Natural Gas Pipeline of the Third West-East Gas Pipeline, the construction of the Middle Section (Zhongwei-Jian) Natural Gas Pipeline Project of the Third West-East Gas Pipeline was officially started.

The mid-section (Zhongwei-Jian) natural gas pipeline of the Third West-East Gas Pipeline has a total length of 2090 kilometers. It starts from Zhongwei, Ningxia, and passes through 7 provinces (autonomous regions) of Ningxia, Gansu, Shaanxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi, ending in Ji’an, Jiangxi Province. The pipeline design pressure is 10 MPa, the designed annual gas transmission capacity is 25 billion cubic meters, and the pipe diameter is 1219 mm. A total of 10 compressor stations and 2 branch lines are set up across the line.

After the pipeline is completed and put into operation, it will connect the western section (Khorgos-Zhongwei) and the eastern section (Jian-Fuzhou) of the completed West-East Natural Gas Pipeline, so as to realize the effective connection between the western resources and the eastern natural gas market, and further improve the central and eastern regions of China The layout of the natural gas pipeline network is interconnected with the existing regional gas transmission pipeline network and the national backbone natural gas pipeline network, unblocking the dual circulation channels of domestic and foreign resource supply, improving the flexibility of natural gas allocation and supply, and improving the energy supply, economic development and environment of the areas along the route. Provide important guarantees to help build a new pattern of "five verticals and five horizontals" for natural gas pipeline networks during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

The Zhongwei No. 2 Station, which started construction this time, serves as a backup station for the Zhongwei Hub Station of the West-East Gas Pipeline Line 1 and Line 2. It is interconnected with multiple natural gas pipelines such as the Zhonggui Line to realize the deployment function of multiple points in and multiple points out, which can greatly improve the operational reliability of the West-East Gas Pipeline System.

After the completion of the middle section of the third West-East Gas Pipeline, the annual gas transmission capacity of the West-East Gas Pipeline System can be increased by about 25 billion cubic meters. Compared with coal, the annual carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 70.89 million tons. It is of great significance to promote the adjustment of energy structure and the transformation of development mode, ensure the supply of clean energy in the areas along the route, promote energy conservation and emission reduction along the route, and achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

Empower management upgrade

The middle section of the third West-East Gas Pipeline project passes through the Loess Plateau, Qinling Mountains, Jiangnan hills and other complex mountainous and disastrous geological and geomorphological sections.
