On March 31, 2026, as a key project in the national pumped storage plan, the main construction of the Yulin Pumped Storage Power Station in Guangxi officially began. This power station is also the largest investment and strongest clean energy consumption capacity pumped storage project in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone of Guangxi.
The project has started in full swing
At the construction site of Yulin Pumped Storage Power Station in Guangxi, 26 working faces including upper and lower reservoirs, underground powerhouses, and water transmission systems are progressing synchronously, and the main project construction has been fully launched.

The total investment of the project is 8.36 billion yuan, with a planned installation of 4 generator sets and a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts. It can convert 1.2 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity per hour, which can meet the daily electricity needs of about 200000 households.
Assist in the consumption of clean energy
Ma Jiashun, General Manager of Yulin Pumped Storage Project Department of Southern Power Grid Energy Storage Company, stated that currently, the proportion of new energy installed capacity in Yulin, Guangxi has exceeded 90%. The power station is expected to be fully operational by 2029, with an annual capacity to consume 2.16 billion kilowatt hours of clean energy, providing strong support for the clean energy export of the Beibu Gulf offshore wind power base and the coastal 7 million kilowatt nuclear power. Drive industry and employment
After the completion of Yulin Pumped Storage Power Station, it will drive upstream and downstream industrial investment of over 18 billion yuan and provide about 5000 job opportunities. At the same time, the project adopts a mechanized construction and digital management mode, which will also help promote the high-quality development of the pumped storage industry in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone of Guangxi.Editor/Gong Ziwei
