On April 19, 2022, the inauguration of China National Nuclear Corporation Xinhua (Buerjin) Pumped Storage Power Generation Co., Ltd. was held in Burqin County, Xinjiang, which means that the construction of a multi-energy complementary energy base in Burqin, Xinjiang officially kicked off.

According to reports, this project is the first million-level clean energy base project in the northern Xinjiang region. Based on the recently won bid for the Burqin pumped storage project with an installed capacity of 1.4 million kilowatts, the local government will follow up with a matching ratio of 1:4. The integrated water, wind, solar and storage projects in the Burqin River Basin will be built, including 2 million kilowatts of photovoltaics and 3.6 million kilowatts of wind power. At present, the first phase of the 150,000 wind power supporting project index has been approved and issued by the autonomous region, the planning and design have been completed, and the construction has officially started. It is estimated that the total planned installed capacity of the project is 7 million kilowatts, and the estimated total investment is 50 billion yuan.

The Burqin Pumped Storage Project is a key implementation project in the 14th Five-Year Plan of the National Medium- and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035). Integrated large base project.
