The engineering company Bilfinger has a remaining contract from Electricite Energy of France, Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant in the UK, worth 68 million euros.
Under the contract, Bilfinger will be responsible for the design, supplier management, manufacturing and installation of a 56-kilometre dedicated pipeline system to support the operation of the nuclear power plant. The auxiliary piping system will consist partly of steel and part of glass fiber reinforced epoxy (GRE) pipes.
The £ 19.6 billion ($ 25 billion) Hinkley Point nuclear power plant in Somerset is the first new nuclear power facility constructed in the UK since 1995. The nuclear power plant will be equipped with two European pressurized reactors, each with a power generation capacity of 1,630 MW.
"The acquisition of this major contract by EDF marks an important milestone for the Hinkley Point C project. This reflects not only the EDF's emphasis on our working relationship, but also our Excellent capabilities in large-scale new construction projects in the nuclear industry. By combining the strengths and experience of multiple entities in our group, we are able to provide EDF with all the necessary services from a single source. "
The contract work is planned for completion in 2025 and is expected to create 35 new jobs in the UK.
Simon Parsons, head of the Hinkley Point C MEH programme, said: "The contract will further enhance British industrial skills and expertise in the high-tech manufacturing sector as part of an ongoing effort to increase UK employment and skills through the construction of power stations.
The development of almost the same power station at Sizewell C will further benefit our extensive and experienced UK supply chain. "Editor / Huang Lijun
