On June 28, 2022, the main construction of the Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge Project, another world-class cross-river project on the Jiangsu section of the 800-mile Yangtze River, was fully started.

Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge is located about 28 kilometers downstream of Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge and about 16 kilometers upstream of Shanghai-Sutong Bridge, connecting Suzhou, Taizhou and Nantong. It starts from the intersection of the Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway on the west side of Shizhuang Town, Rugao, Nantong City, and ends at the Chenyang Interchange of the Zhangjiagang Shugang Expressway in Suzhou City. The total length of the route is about 30 kilometers. The construction period of the bridge is six years, and the design budget is 31.166 billion yuan.

During the construction of the South Channel Bridge, six "span bridges", including the world's largest span suspension bridge, the highest suspension bridge pylon, the longest high-strength main cable, the largest composite ground wall anchorage foundation, the largest continuous length steel box girder, and the largest displacement expansion device, will be created. best in the world";

On the structural system, the main cable self-balancing structural system of the super-span suspension bridge will be realized, and the super-high steel box-steel tube-constrained concrete composite pylon and anchor will be realized on the cable tower structure.
