On July 12, 2022, the Guangxi Department of Communications issued a tender announcement for the construction, preliminary design and preliminary research work of Guangxi Communications Investment Co., Ltd. Guangxi Communications Investment Group Co., Ltd. is responsible for the implementation of the Guangxi section of the Hunan Channel to Resources to Quanzhou Highway. For the investment and construction of other expressway projects, the tenderee is Guangxi Expressway Investment Co., Ltd., and the bidding documents have been verified and prepared by the Transportation Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The estimated total investment of the project is about 26.8 billion yuan.

Project Overview

The starting point of the project is located in Fenghuang Town, Quanzhou County, Guilin City. The existing Phoenix hub interchange is renovated and intersects with G72 Quannan Expressway, and then connects with G76 Xiarong Expressway. The route goes westward through Xianshui Town, Quanzhou County, and crosses the Hunan-Guangxi Railway. After connecting with the Hunan-Guangxi Railway Passenger Dedicated Line, a super-long tunnel will be set up to cross the Yuechengling Mountains to the vicinity of Zhongfeng Township, Ziyuan County. Near Tianxiang, after passing through Liangshui Township and Hekou Township, to Longsheng County, through Jiangdi Township and Mati Township, and after crossing the Jianlongsheng-Chengbu Expressway, a super-long tunnel will be set up to pass through the Nanshan Mountains to the east through Weijiang Township and Pingping Township, go out of the border of Hunan and Guangxi near Gaoxiping, and connect with the section of G65 Baomao Expressway to Longsheng near Longcheng Town, Tongdao County, Hunan Province. The total length of the project route is about 135 kilometers, of which: the first phase of the project is 95.3 kilometers in the Guangxi section, and the second phase of the project is 39.7 kilometers.
