Recently, at the construction site of Xinjiang Dashixia Water Control Project, one of the country's 172 major water conservation and water supply projects, large trucks are transporting sand and gravel materials, roaring one after another. Under the hot and sweltering heat, more than 1,800 workers and about 240 large-scale machinery from China Energy Construction Gezhouba Group were busy on the construction site, and the project construction was progressing rapidly and steadily.
Xinjiang Dashixia Water Control Project is located in the Dashixia Gorge at the junction of Wensu County and Wushi County in Aksu Region. The main construction content of the project includes three parts: water retaining structure, water discharge structure, and water diversion power generation system. The water retaining structure is a concrete face gravel dam with a maximum dam height of 247 meters, a total reservoir capacity of 1.17 billion cubic meters, and an installed capacity of the power station. 750,000 kilowatts, with an estimated annual power generation of 1.89 billion kWh.
According to the plan, the sand and gravel material filling of the dam of Xinjiang Dashixia Water Control Project will be filled to an elevation of 1703.5 meters in 2025. After the main buildings are completed, the gate will be filled with water. It is expected that all generator sets will be ready for power generation in August 2026. After the project is completed, it will help to improve the ecological environment of the Tarim River Basin and promote the economic and social development of southern Xinjiang.Editor/Ma Xue
