On August 6, 2022, the reconstruction and expansion project of the G18 Rongwu Expressway from Weihai to Yanhai Expressway was fully launched. The reconstruction and expansion project will be fully enclosed. During this period, 12 roads including Huancui Road and Provincial Highway 204, and 31 intersections including Denggang in the Film and Television City will be affected.
Yanwei Expressway
It is understood that Yanwei Expressway was completed and opened to traffic in 1994 with a design speed of 100 km/h. It is the first expressway in Weihai City, and the Shuangdaowan Bridge is the first cross-sea bridge in Weihai City. In 2005, the national high-speed network planning was adjusted, and the road was included in the national high-speed network G18 Rongwu Expressway. It has been nearly 30 years since the expressway was opened to traffic, and it has made important contributions to promoting the economic and social development of Weihai and the development of the peninsula urban agglomeration.

The original design standard of the road was low, and the operation time was long. The level of road area facilities and the technical status of bridges did not meet the existing highway construction standards. After comprehensive research and judgment, it is determined that Shandong Expressway Group Co., Ltd. will carry out reconstruction and expansion of the road. The total length of the reconstruction and expansion route is 47.022 kilometers. It starts from the intersection of Rongwu Expressway and Huancui Road in Huancui District, Weihai City, and ends at the east of Yantai Hub Interchange in Laishan District, Yantai City. The estimated total investment of the project is 4.142 billion yuan. Among them, the Weihai section is 8.14 kilometers, with an estimated budget of 920 million yuan.
The road is constructed according to the standard of two-way six-lane expressway. After completion, the traffic capacity and service level will be greatly improved. In particular, in order to facilitate the free passage of the main urban area, Chucun area and Zhangcun area, auxiliary roads will be added on both sides of the Shuangdaowan toll station to achieve seamless connection with municipal roads. In addition, the Shuangdaowan Bridge will be demolished and rebuilt according to the six-lane standard, and a lighting and beautification project will be implemented together. After completion, it will become a beautiful scenery line on the Qianli Mountain and Sea Self-driving Tourist Highway. The bridge is a full-line controlled project. From demolition to completion, the design and construction time is two years.
It is reported that the construction party of the project is Shandong Expressway Construction Management Group, a subsidiary of Shandong Expressway Group, and the construction parties are Shandong Road and Bridge Group and Shandong Expressway Maintenance Group. During the construction process, under the premise of ensuring quality and safety, the project construction unit will carefully organize, reverse the construction period, and push forward, and strive to complete all construction tasks within two years. During the construction process, priority will be given to the construction of the road from Huancui Road to Shuangdao Toll Station and the side road of Shuangdaowan, and the passage between the urban area and Chucun will be opened as soon as possible, so as to minimize the impact on the travel of the masses.
