On August 10, 2022, the opening ceremony of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Memorial Park was grandly held in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. Zambian President Hitch Lema, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Du Xiaohui and others attended the event. About 300 people from the project implementer China Civil Engineering Corporation, representatives of the builders of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway, and local people attended the event.

In the 1960s and 1970s, tens of thousands of Chinese experts and railway workers went to Africa and joined hands with the people of Tanzania and Zambia to build the Tanzania-Zambia railway linking eastern and central and southern Africa.

In order to commemorate the heroes and martyrs who died in the construction of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway and other China-Zambia cooperation projects, remember the great history of the Chinese and African people sharing weal and woe and fighting side by side, and carry forward the spirit of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway, the Chinese and Zambian governments decided to jointly build the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Memorial Park.Editor/Ma Xue
