Liguria and Puglia are planning new transport infrastructure projects. In Liguria, a €10.3 billion transport infrastructure improvement and development works program is being proposed. Roads and railways will be upgraded if the plan is approved by Italy's Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. If the plan is approved, funding will be provided through the Italian central government.

In Puglia, the tender process for the SS89 Garganica and SS106 Jonica routes is underway. A budget of 740 million euros has been determined, of which 395 million euros are used for the engineering of the SS89 route and 346 million euros are used for the SS106 route. The bidding process for the projects is managed by Italian road concession company ANAS.

In 2022, Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation Giovanini proposed a new long-term infrastructure strategy, planning to invest 280 billion euros in improving transportation infrastructure, 12 billion euros in water conservancy infrastructure, and 7 billion euros in construction.
