The annual maintenance work of the Qinghai Tibet Interconnection Project has been successfully completed. On June 12, 2023, the export of electricity from Tibet in 2023 was officially launched, which will provide strong support for promoting the transformation of Tibet's resource advantages into economic advantages, promoting the optimized allocation of surplus electricity during the summer flood season on a larger scale, and serving the overall situation of electricity supply guarantee throughout the country during peak and summer seasons.

In 2023, the Tibet Autonomous Region is expected to deliver 1.82 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, covering five regions in North China, Central China, East China, Northwest China and Southwest China, as well as 12 provinces and cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Hunan. Throughout the year, the transmission of electricity from Tibet will create economic benefits of about 500 million yuan for the Tibet Autonomous Region, and will help China's central and eastern regions reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.815 million tons.

In 2015, the Tibet power grid achieved the first outward transmission of Tibetan electricity. By the end of 2022, the Tibet Autonomous Region has accumulated more than 11.4 billion kilowatt hours of clean energy, such as hydropower, which has directly driven economic growth of 2.373 billion yuan and reduced carbon dioxide emissions of 11.37 million tons, contributing to the largest consumption of clean energy in Tibet and serving the healthy and rapid development of the region's economy and society.

In order to ensure the smooth completion of the target task of Tibetan power transmission this year, State Grid Tibet Electric Power, on the basis of scientific and reasonable arrangements for the maintenance of the electric power sky road and full guarantee of the safe and reliable operation of the transmission channel, actively strengthened reporting and communication with the Party Committee and Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the State Grid Corporation of China and relevant functional departments of the autonomous region, and carefully prepared the promotion plan for Tibetan power transmission. At the same time, actively strengthening the organization and coordination of inter provincial power trading, combined with the constraints on the safe operation of the Tibet power grid, the overall work concept of further promoting the annual target task of power transmission from Tibet through the integrated planning of hydropower and wind power has been clarified.
