On June 24, 2023, Suzhou Rail Transit Line 11, the first subway line across the whole city in the county, was officially opened to traffic. As the first urban rail transit line in Suzhou, Suzhou Metro Line 11 is 41.25km long, with 28 stations set during the period, starting from Weiting Station in Suzhou Industrial Park and ending at Huaqiao Station in Kunshan City. At Huaqiao Station, it seamlessly connects with Shanghai Metro Metro Line 11. It is the first line in Jiangsu that connects with Shanghai rail transit network, and also the first urban rail transit line in China that applies fully automated driving technology.

As a demonstration project for the integration of infrastructure interconnection in the Yangtze River Delta, after the opening of Suzhou Rail Transit Line 11, Shanghai and Suzhou will become another pair of interconnected metro cities in China, and the integration of Shanghai and Suzhou will truly realize the rail interconnection. It is of great significance to enhance the radiation capacity of the central urban areas of Suzhou and Kunshan, guide the optimization of urban spatial layout, lead the construction of new urbanization, promote the integrated layout of transportation, industry and space, and realize the coordinated development of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.
