On the morning of August 13, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited the Cambodian Foreign Ministry to hold talks with the Cambodian side. The Cambodian side said at the meeting that it is actively preparing for the visit of the new Prime Minister Hongmanai to China, and revealed that he will attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and the China-Asean Expo in September, so it is believed that the visit is likely to be arranged in mid-September.

Wang Yi said that China's visit this time is positive for the future of China-Cambodia relations. The Cambodian side said that with the help of China, nearly 4,000 kilometers of roads and 10 Bridges across rivers have been built, which has transformed the country and brought tangible benefits.
